A Registered Play Therapist is someone who is rigorously trained and specifically certified to help children who have some kind of difficulty, challenge or problematic issue in their lives.
The job of a play therapist is to help children who are hurting on the inside, to support them while they find coping tools that work for them, raise their emotional intelligence, and help ease their hurts.
Because we use play to do this, a play therapist is able to help children understand their feelings and themselves a bit better without pressure, judgement or shame.
Childrens' problems can feel smaller and less overwhelming when they understand they are not alone and can cope with what life brings.
It might take a little while, but in the end they will feel empowered and ready to manage better on their own.
